DESCRIPTION: This is a walking tour, so it is a good idea to wear comfortable shoes though we are covering a short distance. As with all outdoor activity in South Florida, sunscreen and hat are also recommended. Listen to the story of how Wynwood rose from a neglected industrial/urban zone to Art District and the role of Tony Goldman in its development. Learn how the Walls (and Doors) are curated at Wynwood Walls and what their life span is. Then, strolling through the courtyards, pause at several murals, like Shepard Fairey’s homage to Tony Goldman in the company of other iconic figures and Vhils’s reliefs blasted out of stone. Take in the art, snap photos, and hear about who the artists are, what their place is in street art history, what techniques they use, and what messages and meanings may be behind their work. Ask questions and converse with your Guide and fellow group members about your impressions to further deepen your art experience. SCHEDULE: Tours every day at 12:15pm, 1:30pm and 4:00pm.
